Prepared With

Kababs in a Blanket

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Crescent Foods Grass-Fed Ground Beef 85/15
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 to 3 gloves of garlic
  • A bunch of cilantro
  • A few green chilies depending on desired spice level
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 tablespoons bread crumbs
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Anar dana powder
  • Puff pastry sheets

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 370 degrees F.
  2. In a chopper, grind the onion, garlic, cilantro, and chilies until fine.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, mix the ground meat with the chopped onions mixture, the salt and spices, egg and bread crumbs. Mix well with your hands until all ingredients are combined. Shape them into small cylinder-shaped kababs, about 1 inch long.
  4. Defrost the puff pastry until room temperature or soft enough to work with.
  5. Lay all the kababs on a baking dish and bake until they are half cooked but golden on the outside. About 5-7 minutes. Remove from the oven and let them come to room temperature.
  6. Once the kababs have cooled, cut the puff pastry into a rectangular shape so you can roll each individual kabab in the puff pastry. The puff pastry should not be so wide to cover the edges of the kabab, and only long enough to go around the kababs once, and not roll around a few times. Pinch the ends of puff pastry together so they don’t open while baking.
  7. Place all the rolls on a baking dish lined with parchment paper, and lightly brush with egg wash.
  8. Bake the kababs rolled in puff pastry at 360F degrees until puffy and golden, about 15-20
  9. Minutes. Serve hot with your favorite chutneys!
