Grateful To Give Back

In 2021, Crescent Foods partnered with Islamic Relief USA to distribute 15,000 turkeys to several local communities. This year, the collaboration has grown, now with more than 22,000 turkeys going to 10 different donation events across the country – all to support those in need.

“Crescent Foods is hands-on for this endeavor,” said Mike Ducharme, Senior Sales Manager for Crescent Foods. “This isn’t a transaction with IRUSA.  This is a true partnership for the greater good of the community.”

Starting Thursday, Nov. 17th and going through the weekend before Thanksgiving, the following local organizations are participating in the giveaways:

Sahaba Initiative, Riverside, CA

Support Life Foundation, Oakland, CA

Islamic Center of Detroit, Detroit, MI

Oasis – a Haven for Women and Children, Paterson, NJ

American Council of Minority Women, Brooklyn, NY

Zeina Lorraine Inc., New York, NY

Purple Hearts Inc., Granbury, TX

East Harris County Empowerment Council, Houston, TX

Plant It Forward, Houston, TX

FJV Foundation, Kerens, TX

As an added bonus, though not directly affiliated with the IRUSA, social media influencer Ish Taher also participating in a turkey donation event this week with Crescent Foods in Illinois, distributing more than 1000 turkeys. Taher has become popular on TikTok, where he has more than 4 million followers. His promotion of the event kicked off online awareness as the company planned visits with other participating organizations and the IRUSA efforts.

“We are involved on a human resource level,” said Ducharme. “This is part of Crescent Foods core value and bringing healthy halal food to communities.”

Crescent Foods turkeys are all natural, 100 percent vegetarian fed, given no hormones or antibiotics, raised humanely and cage free, and are certified Halal hand-cut.
